Guidelines for submission of Abstracts

 

Please submit the abstracts to the Secretariat Office either by regular mail or as attachments of an email. The technical review committee will evaluate the abstracts before being accepted for the conference proceedings. Please submit your abstract in the following format.

Introduction

 

The Fifth International SIVUS Conference on Mental Retardation will bring together the parents and the professionals working in the field of mental retardation and other disabilities under the banner ‘Socio individual development through co-operation’.

 

Keynote presentations, individual research papers and workshops will explore new and challenging themes in the field of disability studies, service programs and social integration.

 

Objectives

1. To continue providing an avenue for the scholars, practitioners and the family members in the fields of mental retardation and other disabilities to engage in broad and meaningful dialogues.

 

2. To provide a global conference.

 

3. To continue creating a platform for academic co-operation of networking in the whole world.

 

4. To enhance the psychological, social, biological knowledge related to disability studies and services.

 

5. To learn about the recent developments, philosophies and programs of different countries and regions.

Venue

The main conference venue is ‘Nawab Nobab Ali Senate House’, University of Dhaka. The venue is newly built, one of the most modern conference centers of the country. The main auditorium is equipped for 500 participants with individual public address facilities, multimedia projectors and other electronic equipments. There are several other rooms for symposia and workshops. Some of the scientific sessions will concurrently be arranged in the main academic buildings of the university.

 

Residential Accommodation

Delegates can stay in the Guest House of the University. The charges are between US$10 – US$25 only per day at the ‘Centre of Excellence’. There are other accommodations of similar charges in different other guest houses and Research Institutions around the University. The hosts will look into the accommodations and transport matters of the foreign delegates.

 

There are many hotels in the city. Price ranges from US$ 10 to US$ 300.

Registration fees are payable in Bangladeshi Taka. Foreign delegates shall have to pay their registration fees at the registration desk while collecting Conference Bags.

 

All delegates are to keep close contact with the organizers related to their arrival, accommodation, transport, choice of food, sight seeing, etc. In special cases the organizers will arrange university students as guides.

 

All registered delegates will be given Conference Bags containing Program Book, Abstracts, Papers, pens, souvenirs, etc.; they will enjoy free access to lunch, dinners and cultural programs.

 

The accompanying persons will be given conference ID cards and program booklet; lunch and dinner coupons.

 

 

Study tours

The organizers are linking the local tour operators to chalk out suitable programs for the delegates to visit Cox’s Bazar, Chittagong, Sylhet and other places of interests inside the country. If there are about 150 desired participants the organizers will arrange a tour inside the ‘Sundarban’ jungle using a ship. However, there will be several tour programs for 2-3 days in different directions from Dhaka. The average cost will be USS 200 only including transports, hotels and food.
